Your March 1.14 - Major Update is packed with a new Tank VS Tank game mode called Capture & Hold Tank, improvements to the menu navigation and a more balanced vehicle assortment for Recons introducing 2 new vehicles to the game.

+ Heroes & Generals WWII is now supporting Korean language!

NEW TANK VS TANK MODE


In the new game mode, named 'Capture & Hold Tank' , 8 vs 8 tanks fight to capture a single control point. Each faction deploys Infantry bots, that will try and capture the control point on the map, watch out for their nasty anti tank weapons!

Join 2 tank squads in a battle to support your infantry capturing the Lunéville village. Suppress enemy infantry until the village is captured or destroy the enemy tank forces. Tanks are controlled by players and Infantry soldiers are controlled by bots. Make sure to enter the battle with a balanced selection of tanks, both high tier as well as low tier for fast deployment. If field maintenance leaves you without a tank to deploy, make sure to jump into a squad members' tank for support.

The map in this game mode is inspired by the battle of Arracourt, it is 2x2 km and is set in the french 'bocage', a labyrinth of hedgerows, hills and small clusters of forest. Tanks deploy at the edge of the map, Infantry attacks from 6 random deploy zones around the village.

NEW ENTRY INTO MATCHMAKING


Matchmaking Entry is now made through a mode selection. We designed modes to be optimized both for familiarity of popular multiplayer game modes and singularity to the uniqueness of our game. More modes updates will come over time.

DEPLOY MENU SIMPLIFICATION

The deploy menu is now streamlined, especially for new players who have no choice yet for their load-outs and vehicle picks. Players are now auto deploying and re-deploying after a short count down, players will not see the deploy menu when unnecessary. We have other improvements coming later for that screen for more advanced players. Players can always deactivate the auto deploy function in the options menu to have full control.

NEW PLAYER PROGRESSION SCREEN


New Progression screen is now shown every time a player levels up. The screen shows where the player is in terms of progression, what was unlocked and what will unlock later at what level. We will show more to the players on that screen to clarify the progression path even more in future iterations. This screen is accessible front and center as a tab on top of the Main User Interface.

MORE BALANCED RECON VEHICLES ASSORTMENT

In an effort to equalize power between factions, we are re-organizing some and introducing new vehicles.

  • NEW US Recon Vehicle - M20 joins the existing M8 Greyhound.
    This tier one vehicle is unlocking faster and has lighter armed machine guns.

  • NEW GE Sd.Kfz. 251/1 Halftrack is coming in as an Infantry vehicle.
    It is bigger, meaner , heavier and better armed with 2 machine-guns.

  • The GE Sd.Kfz. 250/3 halftrack is moved to the recon class adding to the existing Sd.Kfz 222.
    This tier one vehicle is unlocking faster, it has lighter armed machine guns.

  • The 2 existing Soviet Recon vehicles BA-64B and BA-6 remain unchanged.

Seriously, no map filters? I have to manually quit all Airfields and factories? Or will they feature in advanced filters?

they took out map filter??????? jesus christ... i aint playing HnG ever again than... most of the maps are so sht that i religiously avoid them like the devil avoids holy water 

@Reto.Hades is this true or hoax? if its true you guys have to bring it back asap in the first hotfix. that's a huge turnoff

I'm guessing they removed it to make the MMs job easier because the upcoming skill based MM wold have massive troubles with all the filters active(faction, game modes, maps, classes)

Same with me but I will quit from airfield and khutor games. We need some filter cause each map is good (or bad) for other kind of activities and play style. Sadly I'm not home yet to check the updated game, but I hope there's filter just a little bit hiding :(

Not sure what to think of this game change.

As far as i can see not one single change that brought back any of the good old game features (old UI, pick battle list, rooftop access, iron sight zoom, propaganda speeches, flags/banners for the sake of immersion, old spawn system, old capture zone sizes) or most wanted request like hard caps on tanks and planes. Basically anything from the Veteran Wish List (RIP)

 

All i see is iteration XXX of the deploy menu, which was already cumbersome and (haven't checked) if the map filters have been removed is an even bigger pain and another reason to put this game aside for another few weeks/months.

 

Please enlighten me.

 

Ow, seems sounds have been fixed in some areas, so that is a good thing to point out.

well then reduce the bush and tree spam on French-Vietnam maps before this.

But map filter removal is a major downside, so its a typical Reto update i guess :D

As long as I can have some decent games without the ridiculous tank spam that's a sacrifice I can live with.

A fix for battles not ending correctly has indeed been implemented with this build. We will keep an eye on it ourselves as well to see if it has had the intended effect.

 

As we have added quite a few more battle-modes, we want to be sure the matchmaker can keep finding battles for people.

This is one of the reasons why we have disabled manually picking certain battles. You might have noticed we do have a greyed out 'advanced filters'.

We are looking into allowing players to 'blacklist' certain battles. Meaning you can take 1 or 2 battlefields out of the equation.

@reto.hades Lets hope the fix will work, but the new window for getting into a battle is a total, confusing, overcomplicated mess...

When I kill enemies in player vs player matches I no longer see the red writing confirming I have killed enemies which is annoying as I have to look at the top right of my screen to confirm my kills which is game breaking, only see wounded message but no final kill message, also don't like the new match making system and hate the fact you can't filter out maps, edit this has now been fixed and reverted back to old red writing thankfully

This is like giving plastical surgery to an 80 year old woman so that she would look 30...stop overcomplicating the ui. BETA matcmaker and battle selectir UI was the best this game has seen.

2017-19 are the years of UI....if only the year of pmaps would have been this intensive.

 

Stuf that actually matters

 - being able to filter out as many maps as we want since your maps are terrible

 - not allowing players to spawn heavy tanks out of the get go in tank vs tank

 - Armor dmg,at weaponry balance

 - Netcode,memory leaks

 - Skill based MM

 - Maps

 - Br system for planes and tanks

 - AA tiers linked to aircraft classes

 - New subfactions

 - maybe after 3 years finishing adding the Soviet faction? You know 2 lmg's.

 - adding airfields or separate timers to reduce the intensity of ground strafing,bombing

 - new game engine instead of this dumster fire

 

 

 

These matter! Pocket pistols,new UI,recon cars are things NOONE GIVES A SHT ABOUT

 

If Kotton would be here he would say the same. Stop redesigning the ui. But he was smart and left a while ago because you guys dont fix the game but between chickening out and being arrogant to costumers trying to help, you redesign the ui yet again. This is why I said many times that vets could develop this game better than reto.

 

Tank vs tank is actually a good step and lets hope hard caps on tanks and planes only, will follow. 5+1 for assult, 3+1 for Skrimish.see sig. for expln.
