Rules and Guidelines

 

These rules can be seen as guidelines for the entire game universe, including forum, ingame chat, PMs, Wiki etc. So whenever we mention forum below you can read it as all of the above.

Welcome to the Official Heroes & Generals forums! These forums are here to provide you with a friendly atmosphere where you can discuss ideas, give game play advice, and discuss any other aspects of Heroes & Generals with other players. Community forums are at their best when participants treat their fellow posters with respect and courtesy. Therefore, we ask that you conduct yourself in a civilized manner when participating on these forums.

The guidelines and rules listed below explain what behavior is expected of you and what behavior you can expect from other community members. Note that the following guidelines are not exhaustive, and may not address all manner of offensive behavior. As such, the forum moderators and administrators shall have full discretion to address any behavior that they feel is inappropriate. Also, suspension or banishment from the game will always result in the same in regard to forum access. Your access to these forums is a “privilege,” and not a “right.” Reto-Moto reserves the right to suspend your access to these forums at any time for reasons that include, but are not necessarily limited to, your failure to abide by these guidelines.

Reto-Moto reserves the right to evaluate each incident on a case by case basis. 

Before posting any kind of information on this forum, all users are to read the following rules. These rules are obligatory for all registered users on this forum.

§1 Etiquette
Users are not allowed to abuse others, make personal attacks or behave disrespectfully. This prohibition applies to both public threads, chat and private messages (PMs). Disrespect can include:

  1. Flaming
  2. Trolling
  3. Harassment or Defamatory remarks
  4. Profanity, Inappropriate language or abbreviations there of
  5. Personal abuse or attacks
  6. Racial, religious, Sexual, national or ethnic, slurs or insults, This includes "jokes" in bad taste.
  7. Excessive Capitalization
  8. Publicly accusing players of rule breaking, contact support instead

If a member is found to have participated in such actions, he/she may:
Be given a temporary or permanent account suspension (ban) for both game and forums, depending upon severity.

§2 Distribution of real life information and real-life threats
Postings and discussions which have users’ personal data (such as addresses, telephone numbers, emails, other contact information) - regardless of whether this is their own or that of other users - will be removed. Users who publish this type of content on the forum will be warned or suspended by an administrator or a moderator.

If a thread or post is in violation of the forum rules, users are encouraged to use the report button on the post and provide information as to why the thread or post is in violation.

No rude or disrespectful posts to or about any forum moderators or Reto-Moto employees, as well as no release of real-life information about moderators or Reto-Moto employees are allowed on this forum.

Real-life threats include both clear and masked language and/or links to websites containing such language or images which refers to violence in any capacity that is not directly related to the game world.

If a member is found to have participated in such actions, he/she will:

  • Be temporarily banned from the Reto-Moto forums
  • Be given a final warning, any further violations may result in permanent ban from the forums
  • Real-life threats will handed over to the police, for possible prosecution.

§3 Advertising
Users are not allowed to post threads or comments here that advertise or solicit any non-beneficial, non- Heroes & Generals related businesses, organizations, or websites. Explicit advertising and solicitation in signatures are also prohibited.

If a member is found to have been advertising, he/she may:

  • Be given a permanent or temporary ban from the forums, depending upon severity

Forum rules allow discussing other war games; however any kind of solicitation of or linking to other games is not permitted. 

§4 Accounts
All types of posts for the sale or promotion of the exchange or transfer of accounts, currency, codes, and other services from one user to another are prohibited within the forums and game channels.

If a member is found to have participated in such actions, he/she may:

  • Be given a permanent account suspension (ban) for both game and forums, depending upon severity

§5 Off Topic, spamming and trolling
This category includes:

  1. Excessively communicating the same phrase, similar phrases, or pure gibberish
  2. Offtopic Posting
  3. Creating threads/posts for the sole purpose of causing unrest on the forums
  4. Creating threads/posts for purpose of reporting or discussing in game violations. Such incidences are to be directed to support
  5. Causing disturbances in forum threads, such as picking fights, making off topic posts that ruin the thread, insulting other posters
  6. Making non-constructive posts, or posts with non-constructive topics
  7. Abusing the "Reported Post" feature by sending false alarms or nonsensical messages
  8. Numbering a thread, posting "First!", "IBTL" ("in before thread lock") or any other fad statements
  9. "Bumping" posts. Some sections may allow "bumping" in moderation, but users are to check the subsection of the forum to make sure that it is allowed in that section
  10. Petition posts or polls that are not aimed at conducting a discussion. Bumping IS allowed once a month in the recruitment section.
  11. Begging support or fellow players for free things
  12. Armchair lawyering, discussing legal interpretations/validity of Terms of Service, Rules, Support decisions etc. with the purpose of trolling or starting flamewars.
  13. Discussing real-world politics and pursuing ideological debate.
  14. Adding "+1" posts to show agreement with the previous poster. Please use the post-reputation system instead.

Users should make sure that they post your new threads and postings in the appropriate forum, and users are asked familiarize themselves with the forums. This helps other users and moderators maintain an overview and so be able to respond faster with an appropriate answer to questions. Before beginning a new thread, look to see if an active thread on that topic has already been established using the Search feature. If so, place your comments there instead. Keep discussions about one topic to one thread only.

Posts which drift off topic, or content-free posts will be edited or removed. Posting multiple messages with the same content across several forums is unwelcome and inappropriate, since such activities divide the targeted discussions and makes gathering feedback considerably more difficult. Such ‘cross posts’ will be merged, closed and redirected or removed. Before beginning a new thread, look to see if an active thread on that topic has already been established using the Search feature. If so, place your comments there instead. Keep discussions about one topic to one thread only.

If a member is found to have participated in such actions, he/she may:

  • Be given a permanent or temporary ban from the forums, depending upon severity

§6 Law Violations
This category includes:

  1. Posting discussion threads on, or linking to, cheats, hacks, trojan horses, or malicious programs. If you suspect that a cheat or hack exists, provide the necessary information to support, it is not to be discussed within the forums.
  2. Posting unreleased content / hacking data files: showing unreleased in-game items, equipment, or areas that have been unlocked by hacking into client data files; discussing or displaying any data not available through normal game play;
  3. Illegal drugs or activities. Both clear and masked language and/or links to websites containing such language or images which reference to abusing illegal drugs or to performing illegal activities are prohibited.

 

If a member is found to have participated in such actions, he/she will:

  • Be temporarily banned from the forums
  • Be given a final warning, any further violations may result in permanent ban from the forums
  • Severe cases will handed over to the police, for possible prosecution.

 

Users are expected to act lawfully when participating on the forums. Posting about or discussing issues that violate local or international laws is not allowed under any circumstance.
The administration reserves the right to delete, update or modify any information which is considered inappropriate on these forums.

§7 Discussing disciplinary actions
This category includes:

  1. Creating posts or threads to discuss disciplinary actions taken against a player in game or on the forums
  2. Creating posts or threads to discuss moderators or moderator decisions and actions

 

If a member is found to have participated in such actions, he/she may:

  • Be given a temporary ban from the forums, depending upon severity

 

§8 Language
The official language of this forum is English. Transliteration and intentionally distorted or illiterate language is unwelcome.
Please be aware that not all users native English speakers, so please be considerate to those who obviously have difficulties with English, they might still have very interesting things to say.
Posting in non-English is restricted to the Clan/Army & Non-English section only.

§9 Hard-to-Read Posts
Posts that disrupt the message boards for other users, intentional or not, are prohibited. This category includes, but is not limited, to:

  1. Posting excessively in capital letters, Excessive whitespace or line breaks, leet speak, or other hard-to-read writing styles
  2. Using misleading topic titles, excessive punctuation, and/or non-standard symbols

 

While posting on these forums users are to be reasonable with font size and color. Stick to default font size and try to avoid use of text colors different from black. The administration reserves the right to modify inappropriate posts and give warnings to their authors.

§10 Links and Images
Whenever linking to a website or image, choosing an image for an avatar or signature or posting a image, be sure to check that they don't violate any of the rules above. Sites or images that display illegal content, pornography, nudity, gratuitous violence, Nazi symbols such as swastikas, obscenities and any other content that goes against the standards of this community will be removed. In addition to the above we also request you not post ASCII art as they are pure eye-torture when viewing the forum on a mobile phone.

Images used in player signatures must be of a reasonable size, do not use flashing images and other material that may cause irritation or distraction for other users in their signatures/avatars. While GIF images are fine, quickly flashing, bright colored images can cause headaches, or worse for folks who are prone to seizures. 

§11 Player, Character, Weapon and Assault Team names.
Whenever you are given the opportunity to name something in the game you must follow the rules here as well as common decency. If we at Reto-Moto find names to be offensive or improper, we may, at our sole and absolute discretion, delete or change these names and/or suspend or ban (terminate) your account. 

The following types of names are unacceptable for use:

  1. Belongs to another person with the intent to impersonate that person, including without limitation admins/game masters/moderators or employee or agent of Reto-Moto.
  2. Profane, racist, defamatory, obscene or rude names including swear words (all languages), obscene anatomical references, racial slurs as well as their homonyms.
  3. Names of people or organizations directly involved in crimes against humanity such as, but not limited to Waffen SS. 
  4. Subject to the rights of any other person or entity without written authorization from that person or entity.
  5. That belongs to a popular culture figure, celebrity, or media personality.
  6. That is, contains, or is substantially similar to trademarked names from other products or services, whether registered or not.
  7. Hateful towards or promoting religious figures or deities.
  8. Related to drugs, sex, alcohol, or criminal activity.
  9. Comprised mainly of unpronounceable characters, e.g., "'-_-_===" is not ok, while "_-UnderscoreMan-_" is.
  10. Any names that within common sense violates the above rules. For instance if someone has been tried and convicted for crimes against humanity they are probably not a good role-model.


You may not use misspellings, leet-speek/dudespeak or alternative spellings to circumvent the name restrictions listed above, nor can you have a "first" and "last" name that, when combined, violate the above name restrictions.

Rules of engagement

Based on feedback from players who wanted clearer guides for what is acceptable and what is not acceptable behaviour in game we have created this easy-to-use list. 

General behaviour

If you accidentally Team Damage (TD) or Team Kill (TK) another player, apologize in chat.


General rules

The Rules of Engagement is a guideline of what is acceptable behavior or not. If you are guilty of any of the violations listed below you may be temporary or permanently (with or without prior warning) suspended from the game depending on the severity of your actions.

  1. Spamming the chat. (use English in the Global, Faction & Support chat channels)
  2. Abusing/exploiting glitches or bugs (Report glitches and bugs to Customer Support)
  3. Using any kind of cheat.
  4. Using macros/bots/scripts/etc — you are required to play the game yourself
  5. The intentional blocking of player & vehicle spawn points
  6. Intentionally blocking shots from players, jumping yourself in front of firing tanks or bazookas, etc.
  7. Stats-padding, a.k.a. farming, by means of exploiting actions that give you experience or rewards without actually participating in the action. You are expected to play as a team, and play to win the game!
  8. Making use of racial, ethnic, sexual etc. slurs in chat
  9. Harassment, name-calling, shaming and offensive language
  10. Random accusations of cheating — please let the admins determine who is cheating
  11. Intentionally destroying the gameplay experience for other players
  12. Depleting resource by excessive suiciding or abandoning/destroying vehicles
  13. Intentionally handing over vehicles to the other factions
  14. Transferring, selling, trading accounts or advertising accounts for sale. If you buy an account or if you advertise your account for sale you can expect it to be permanently banned. 
  15. Impersonating or pretending to speak on behalf of Reto-Moto (The only real Reto-Moto employees are named Reto.Username and can be identified by their blue tag in the chat)
  16. Spying or pretending to be undercover agent or the like. Play for the faction you signed up for. 
  17. Advertising other games or content not related to Heroes & Generals or affiliated with Reto-Moto.
  18. Naming weapons, Assault Teams or Soldiers/Generals after War Criminals or using insulting, racist or offensive slurs in their names.
  19. Circumventing bans by any means, including using friends’ accounts or making new accounts.

For your security and privacy reasons, please keep the following in mind:

  • Select a strong, secure password and make sure your email address is correct
  • Do not share your email address, phone number, real name, home address or other personal information with others, ever! 
  • Do not ask for email addresses, phone numbers, real names home addresses or other personal information of other players!
  • Do not publish information about others that could identify them to others in any media form (e.g. text, image, video or audio)
  • Reto-Moto employees will never ask for your password!
  • You are responsible for the protection of your account and personal information.
