M4A3E8 Wiki Page Errors

Unless these are the statistics in game for the E8, then they are wrong.

http://heroesandgenerals.gamepedia.com/M4A3E8_Sherman

The front glacis plate of an M4A3 Sherman or Front(Upper) on the Wiki, should be 94 mm thick, not 64 mm. The Shermans Upper Glacis Plate was 51 mm thick with a 56 degree angle from the vertical. Which comes out to be 94 mm.

The frontal turret armor was 76 mm thick at an angle of 30 degrees from the vertical. Meaning it should be 88 mm thick. The Mantlet is the right thickness though at 89 mm.

The side armor of the turret was 51 mm thick, as was the rear armor of the turret.

It is also wrong to say that the M4A3E8 was an up-armored version of the Sherman. As the armored numbers for the Sherman didn't change throughout the war. The armor numbers above stayed constant.

Here is my source.

Anyone can edit the wiki, its inevitable to have issues, but someone should really change the wiki now, its becoming really deserted.

Well thats why i never trust much wiki in HnG :D ...anyway in game it looks it perform like that....E8 is trolly bouncing very often..and that lower half of armor is rare to penetrate...also same erros goes for Penetration values in most tanks description....most markant its at Panther :D ....where APCR penetrates 194mm armor according to HnG Wiki :D ...and in fact its penetration in game is 130mm :D

Oh how I love you trolls coming in here, spouting your nonsense...

The tank armor thickness is found from here: viewtopic.php?f=55&t=14499

The penetration values are a little off, I already uploaded the template that shows correct values some time ago, but it hasn't been added to all vehicle pages yet. Real penetration value of every shot is some random value between the defined minimum and maximum values that table shows, and so is the damage it does. These are all from in game data.

As for penetration values of Panther APCR, it is between 80mm and 130mm.

And for another seed of your debate, the example of said template here covers the top tier heavy tank rounds: https://heroesandgenerals.gamepedia.com ... ehicleAmmo

And tell me, how am I trolling? I stated the historic values of the Sherman Tank. If those are the numbers that Reto decided to use, then they are wrong for some tanks and right for others. I am at least glad that the numbers on the wiki line up with the numbers used in game.

It is still that, quite simply, their numbers are historically correct with some tanks, and incorrect with others. Which does irk me. Especially considering that for some they just make up numbers and for others they listed the tanks armor value if the plate was vertically flat instead of sloped. I would prefer to see the LOS thickness, but oh well.

I understand that I was wrong in assuming that they might try to at least list the historic armor values as their own, but I assure you that I am not trolling. :geek:

You're reading A1 numbers rather than A3. The Wiki is correct in this case.

Hmm, I guess the wiki stats don't show LOS thickness but just the standard plate. The plate before the angling. Still comes out to 94 mm with angle so I am at least happy. Sorry for my mistake.

So I know I'm a little late to this thread, but I'd like to point out that I haven't updated most Vehicle pages to use the new Vehicle Template yet, so some numbers are almost definitely going to be wrong. I'll get to updating the pages eventually, but I have been super busy recently. And the wiki does need some love from Reto, but it appears as though it will get none :(

when you shoot from above, right on it, there is no angle and it's 64 mm :P
