Smoke Grenades inGame?

I wonder if the devs can add smoke grenades in game. But I know there's pros and cons that it will affect in gameplay. And also I'll believe they could just added it early on if the Smoke Grenades were useful. I bet there's going be solid opinion most of you!

Smoke grenades are essential in most of shooter games tactical combat. I see its use in hng similar to battlefield - imagine smoking d4 bridge and pushing it. Or smoking river crossing and getting APC across safe from snipers and tanks. The idea was proposed many times, many people love it. But (no offence to reto) devs will implement it in such way that your fps will drop to 5 :D or there will be insane bugs like ability to see thru smoke at certain circumstances and so on. Also no one knows if reto engine is capable of this - they certainly have smokes from explosions and tanks/planes on fire, so maybe.

 

P.S. Think it yourself - even such games like cs:go have glitches with smokes where you can see thru it on certain circumstanses. In battlefield games it is implemented very well though - and when you enter the smoke its more like a "mist" or "fog" and you can see whats inside the smoke, while on the outside its the actual visibility-blocking smoke.

2:58 - 3:07  - look how the smoke is blocking the visibility when he is outside the smoke, but when he enters inside the cloud its like a "mist or a fog". Thats a good and realistic way to implement smoke grenades, would love to see it done this way in HnG.

The problem is as I see it with that if you want to imitate real smoke you should pretty much firstly implement WIND.

 

Well not a secret that smoke grenades are simply not working as such as they do in BF or COD

 

1. The smoke grenade action is not instant

2. The smoke is not as dense as one wants to first several seconds

3. The wind. The wind affects the somkescreen heavily (shich is pretty obvious).

 

 

So yes I want smokes outh there just as I want flames. But I'd like to see it work at least a little close to it's real life counterparts (just as for flamabble liquids).

 

And here are some tests how somke behave in general. Pay attention onto second one for example.

Smokes grenade are overrated.

It's like all those prototypes weapons that are godlike ingame. Well, only in games.

They would be actually extremly usefull. Especially if you could equip them on vehicles.

I think they put it aside for some time. There was some discussion about how flames should actually work. And it was suggested that it should not be just the gas-particle analoge of the smoke grenade with damage (which is oftnely how flames implements in other shooters). I'm not sure what RETO decided to do with that tho.

Pretty sure they were too much for the game/server to handle. If it was throwed by many players the FPS would decrease heavily. If this would be combined with the FPS loss when there are much tanks or planes people would insta crash.

Wonder how smooth the game would be if the smokescreens from the weapons would be removed 😜

It would give higher fps for sure.. ^^ but one of the biggest atm is flames, sparks and smoke from tanks and cars. That is why some players got like ~ -30fps after armor 2.0. If someone with bad computer walks up next to a burning tank or apc the game turns into a slideshow 😁
