Hello everyone!

 

We have a new prototype test for you guys, this time we have specialist only battles.

 

We have:

- Recon versus Recon

- Pilot versus Pilot

 

We request that players join as either Germany or United States. This way we can get the most players in the same battle.

Don't tell me our prayers have been heard and Reto finally got the b@lls to hard cap them in combined warfare battles?

At least, it would be the wisest thing to do if you ask me..

This! So much this! How can none think about this befor. Even on tank vs tank. Batles need to be longer!

I like playing as recons a lot, and after trying out the recon vs recon gamemode i feel like it doesn't work quite as was intended. The map is too large for the small amount of recons and the area around the objective isn't suitable for recons. Imo the mode doesn't work well as a capture and hold, and some unique gamemode should be created just for recons, possibly something around capturing enemy intelligence?

 

Why capture and hold doesn't work:
-Too few recons for the large map
-The map doesn't work well with recon meta, obviously because it was designed for tanks
-The capture point placement is poor and doesn't suit recons as there is too much visual cover all around it.
-Not much actual recon vs recon combat is happening
-Standard capture and hold isn't particularly interesting

 

Gamemode idea: intelligence hunt

-The map has no capture points and no "solid" spawnpoints. Players spawn randomly around the map (at the start they spawn on one side) and as they respawn, they spawn close (inside 150m) to a friendly player but not near enemy players.
-Instead of the normal "victory timer" things present in other gamemodes, here they are replaced with numbers representing the amount of captured intelligence documents.
-The point is to kill enemy recons and then get to their bodies and loot their bodies for intelligence documents. The team with the most intelligence documents in the end wins.
-Intelligence looting prevents camping as to win you have to move to the enemy bodies. You get a lot of XP per captured ID but capturing intelligence documents also gives an amount of XP to all teammates.
-Disable IFVs as they'd probably be pretty overkill just to kill recons, also they wouldn't really fit the mode.
-Spotting an enemy gives 0.5 ID points but the enemy has to respawn before being spotted again so that the other team gets ID points for it.
-Preferably permanent night weather setting even in staged to give players more concealment.
-Flanking and knowing how not to be seen is rewarded. 

 

-Also no bots

 

Possibility:
-ID has to be secured at radios so that if the player gets killed his gathered ID won't disappear upon death. All ID would be dropped to the ground  and can either be secured by another teammate or be recaptured by an enemy to prevent the documents from getting to the wrong hands.

or just make a small map with a capture the flag senario (or documents/intel) or a search and destroy for recons....

why all mods have to have a radio to capture...

about the mode recon vrs recon...
capturing a radio isnt even fun on recon vrs recon... why dont we try to have a objective to destroy like a search and destroy match that 1 team needs to defend or desarm it it and other needs to blow it?... this map have the potencial for it...

People mentioning search and destroy mode here: reto try to give it a chance - s&d is an all-time all-game classic and competitive mode, use the same radio - one team has to arm the bomb on it, other has to defend/disarm. I would no-life that mode all day.

 

Capture the flag/intelligence  hunt is also great, think about it. Tank vs tank is already quite good, apply same effort for recon and planes.

so do i.... round base game . would no life the crap out of it on a recon vs recon.
and would be rifle/smg's / silenced smgs only match... what more balance do we need....

@Reto.Hades did try the mode, capturing a radio isnt even fun on a recon vs recon mode.
would you consider the above ? another type of game mode with even weapons on each side of the teams. rifles , semi autos smgs and possible one day silenced smgs..

a team needs to defend the objective, kill all the atackers on that round or defuse a bomb if is planted
other need to arm the bomb or kill all the defenders..

like every search and destoy game our there , or a bomb round in grand operations in BF5....

would fit this game mode better than a radio with bots laying around

Just tried the recon vs recon and as other already said the map is simply not designed for them.

 

No ammo crates on map.

No clear line of sigth to the objective (cover intended for tanks NOT sniping)

No high structures to climb and cover more area

Not enough difference terrain  elevation in the range of recon scopes (its made for tank range)

Not enough players at the same time

Objective filled with literrally aimboting bots is a suicide on foot or in a vehicle.

Not fun to use with recon vehicles, too few structures around to be able to hide and seek with them.

 

 

Recon vs recon sadly needs an exclusive designed map, more in the line of those seen in the Sniper Elite series, dont make it about killing bots make it about killing a  certain number of enemy player driven recons.

 

 

Plane vs plane

 

The first mistake is again mixing recon planes with meds and heavys, thats its already proven to simply not work.

Objective too small and covered in all kind of stuff and buildings thats its too hard to see it and make a bomb deal their full effect,

lack of real flat areas for landing and repair, same problems that in live with normal maps,  hit a small bump while landing or taking off = instant explode

 

Planes can´t really stop the capture of an objective that was also proven many times and every day in live server when half of the team switch to pilot, planes need hard big targets to bomb and flying with HE for ground targets while enemy planes use apcr against you is simply not an option.

 

Make the plane vs plane be based on a team defending a series of big targets that require multiple bombings to be destroyed, no AI infantry bots capping just make them figth other bots aorund  to only part of the WW2 gun figth sounds.

Also make much more plane spawns around all the map and if possible make them random or in a small time frame everyone will know where to camp the other team planes as in  normal maps.

 

Sadly seems both specialists classes need  serious particular adjustments to the map to be a working and fun new mode for those, using the exact same tank vs tank map just  spawning recons and planes instead of tanks don´t work.

Well im sure you already know how many people that just like to  play specialist keep ruining other games modes by taking  valuable infantry slots, so why in the world giving them an exclusive mode to keep them there is bad?

 

oh i forgot its because it´s the way this game community behave.

BTW seems no one noted this option is also included in the proto test, it´s the thing that was talked on one of the last devstreams, the "soldier specialization" i think to guide new players in which things they need grind and aquire to become more effective while filling certain specific roles.

1) As a new player will be nice to have the option to see all other soldiers with a menu here, so we can see how far or close are they to a specific role without having to exit this screen.

 

2) I found you are able to buy items from this window, like vehicles or weapons already unlocked, but with not completed ribbons clicking on them to buy the progress don´t work.

This new "speialization window" need a better acceess in the normal soldiers screen, now its "hidden" inside the progression tab.

Completing those "bronze, silver and gold" specializations levels may give the players some credits/warfund reward? if its intended to give new players a clearer vision on what things to grind finally reaching them will not be worthy of a small credit/wf price like the player levels?
