COMMUNITY EVENTS WORKSHOP PT.2 : Open discussion

We'd just have to use a different symbol, for instance the Rod of Asclepius - It's not per se against the geneva laws to use the red cross, but we could receive legal repercussions. It's elaborated upon a little more here. I think the bottom line is that we cannot guarantee that the characters are solely medics, but are actually combat medics. Personnel branded with the red cross cannot actively participate in the act of warfare - they are allowed to defend themselves, but they cannot be the aggressors and continuously be engaged in forward moving combat.

COMMUNITY EVENTS WORKSHOP PT.2 : Open discussion

Sorry for the late response everyone, I'm down with a nasty lung infection and have been all week. Event creators will get their vouchers when I'm going full steam again, and I'll take some time next week to respond to some of your comments as well.
  3. Hi all, thank you for your patience! I’ve listed the top voted suggestions below, will try and tag the original owners of those comments so they know their suggestions are being debated here. A link to the original thread can also be found HERE. Firstly, I'll have to say that even though we might reach conclusions on several of these suggestions, I can’t guarantee that any of these will make it through production in the same shape that we conclude - If they make it through at all. Understand that there are a lot of factors that could alter the concepts through production, ie. technical reasons or amount of production required etc. However I’m personally very impressed! If your concept gets to see the light of day, we’ll make sure to credit you (might even name it after you who knows?), and each of the four users who made the suggestions below will get a fat voucher sometime next week (I’ll send you a message here on the forum). Generally you won’t have to worry too much about abuse/farming of a concept, since we’ll either do code that will mitigate those behaviors or outright ban people who abuse/farm certain parameters of the event(against the TOS). If you however see potential loopholes please speak up, but no reason to echo it if a similar comment is already made. I’ll leave my own comments/concerns regarding the individual concepts separately to this main post. - Also if you cannot be constructive with your feedback, your comment will be removed. Original creators of the suggestions, feel free to expand on your concept if you feel the need for it. LEAVE YOUR VOTE IN THE POLL AND A COMMENT WITH YOUR THOUGHTS What do you like/dislike about each of the concepts? What would you like to see done differently in your favorite concept? Are the rewards realistic/fun/good enough? @Lobo[PT] (33 votes) THEME: Field medic OBJECTIVE: heal teammates wounded on the battlefield, ( x amount) heal points and its granted a medic helmet (X2 amount of) heal points a medic camo DURATION: 2 weeks AFFECTED PLAYERS: NEWCOMERS / EXPERIENCED / VETERANS (all) AFFECTED GAME AREA: War/staged - only pvp matches POTENTIAL REWARDS: Unique helmet/camo for a field medic, as shown as example below Everyone can have said camo. Not only top 10. -1 helmet per account -1 medic camo per account. both per account if player was able to reach both event objectives. why: there is, right now no field medic. just users with badges. and a small icon above your head, making it hard to notice/call for help. since there is no "talk commands" to ask for a medic - having a uniform on the medic specialist it's a way to wounded soldiers spot u faster and whistle for help. players like me, already have a dedicated medic (mp40 - med pouch and med pack + both med badges at gold) would find this a great addition to the class. possible "anti-cheat"/to avoid abuses on this event: healing the same player twice in a row, does not count for the stats. @_Finnish_Gamemaster_ (21 votes) THEME: Harvester OBJECTIVES: Kill 500 (or 1000 depending on what is actually a fair challenge) players at a range less than 50 m DURATION: 1 week AFFECTED PLAYERS: All AFFECTED GAME AREA: ACTION GAME POTENTIAL REWARD(S): Helmets with skulls for everyone that has achieved the 500/1000 kill count thing @Mastah (20 votes) THEME: Battle of Britain OBJECTIVE: US faction needs to fend off German troops, trying to overtake Britain's main cities (TBD). Meanwhile the German forces have to face the Soviet threat from the East, trying to overtake Berlin and <fill out> main cities. [Allies get a surplus bonus in vehicle production. Axis get a surplus bonus in planes. Russia gets a surplus in ground forces]. These are the events we will be discussing in PT.2 I'll start a discussion thread Friday Oct. 1st (lots of internal stuff going on until then, so bear with me), with details on how we should proceed - so please be patient until then.

    MG-13 glowing front sights

We have several, obviously - And I can't go in to detail about what is on the way, but what I can say, and what we are really proud of is that we're rapidly closing bugs at the moment. Of course not, but we try our best to make new assets as close to the realistic designs as possible, and if something is changed we can usually state why that descision was made. It was meant more as a compliment that you guys notice those details, cause you are collectively a huge knowledge base of WWII. ❤️ Wasn't arguing that we're perfectly on the nose every time or close to it. Yeah, I'm sorry it's not exactly what I meant but understand what you are saying. Wasn't trying to be facetious or anything like it, but we are looking at balancing stuff that comes out and you can choose to believe it when you see it, that's up to you. I should've said that your critiques are founded in the experiences you have with the new weapons/content and I was trying to acknowledge that. The feedback we get from you guys are also taken into account when those balances are made, but my point is still that barely a months worth of our own data is enough to compare thee community feedback with what we're actually seeing in game.

    MG-13 glowing front sights

It's hardly a "feature" - just the original design of the gun 🤷‍♂️ But also as Gamemaster said VVVVV But also come on, if we add new assets and there's a difference or error - if for instance we had left the sight aperture bar flat, at least one or a couple of you guys would've said "Hey actually the M1919a6 had a sloped sight aperture bar" and then we would have to argue why we removed/changed that from the original designs. 😉 As we are moving ahead we are looking at what updates we can squeeze in on the old assets.. I can't say when and what balance mitigation/adjustments we are looking at, but barely a months worth of data isn't yet enough to make conclusions - we do however appreciate the feedback and threads like these, even though we might all agree a sloped sight bar is hardly the most pressing of issues.

    MG-13 glowing front sights

Just saw this in the passing, so I'll just quickly address it: The top of some apertures are at a slight angle/sloped and will catch different light sources (behind you) and therefore appear to be glowing/reflect different lights than the rest of the gun. Reto.Christiano once told me why axis/allied designed some sights like that but I forget and he's on a brief holiday. Here's pictures at an angle of the M1919a6 for reference.

    Community workshop events side-discussion

Hi all! I dig that you are already discussing the details, I'd hoped we could save it for part 2 of the workshop but hey - it's alright. My thinking was that when the top voted events was chosen, it would be a more focused discussion regarding only those specific scenarios and how we'd all like to see them handled in the best possible way. One question I would like you to discuss here though could be: what event we've had that you thought was best and why? Was the parameters of that event better than others? - The reward? How come you disliked one more than the other event? These are considerations we could bring to the PT. 2 of the event suggestions next week. Thank you again

Hi everyone, just wanted to briefly address some points made here in this thread: If you don’t like an event/reward, don’t participate! If it’s too unbearable to fight shovel wielding foes in staged (also, why are you tryharding in staged?), go play war! Making these events are not a team effort, so stop saying “Oh heck to ReTo for making me this free content I can freely choose to consume, they should fix their game instead”. People involved with events in office are mainly myself (concept and assets), Reto.Umbra (text and communication) and sometimes either one of Reto.Christiano or Reto.dur for new assets/skins. Reto.Umbra and I are making stuff for you guys to do, that we think would be fun for most players - If you cannot find the overhead to enjoy a shovel fight in a staged battle for a limited time, that’s not on us. If you have any constructive suggestions, we are doing a workshop here:
  10. Hey all! - this is an official call to all players to make suggestions for events in HnG. READ THROUGH THIS BEFORE MAKING A SUGGESTION, IF YOU DO NOT STICK TO THE FORMAT YOUR POST WILL BE DELETED! What I want to do here is to listen to your suggestions for what events you’d like to see in the future, and look at the community reactions to those suggestions - so here are some ground rules: Make a suggestion by copying the headlines below into your post (don’t quote): ------------ THEME: OBJECTIVES: DURATION: AFFECTED PLAYERS: NEWCOMERS / EXPERIENCED / VETERANS (DELETE ONE IF NOT AFFECTED) AFFECTED GAME AREA: ACTION GAME / RTS / STAGED / WAR (DELETE ONE IF NOT AFFECTED) POTENTIAL REWARD(S): ------------ REQUIREMENTS: Event should strive to include as many players as possible, if it’s limited to a specific playerbase a significant argument should be made as to why the event is limited. Events cannot demand any sort of major codebase changes, be realistic with your suggestions! Agree to a suggestion, vote by upvoting the original post suggestion (only upvotes will count towards votes, don’t use likes). If you disagree, simply don’t vote! DO NOT QUOTE A SUGGESTION TO ADD TO IT OR DISCUSS THE THEME ETC. - We will discuss the top voted suggestions in detail in the next iteration of this workshop. You are only allowed to submit 1 suggestion! Any posts/comments made in this thread that are not suggestions or does not follow the above format will be deleted. Do not tag anyone in your suggestion. If your suggestion is voted into the top suggestions you’ll be tagged in PT. 2 of this workshop and asked to elaborate if needed. I WILL CHECK IN ON THIS THREAD DAILY TO MAINTAIN IT, THREAD IS OPEN FOR SUGGESTIONS UNTIL NEXT FRIDAY (25OCT2019).

Totally agree, but my point was that we don't want to build a system that supports a business model that have the potential to change in the near future. We have to be careful in which basket to lay our eggs - and when talking vanity/skins we can find potential in something with a stronger base than 3rd party trading. Not saying its a bad idea, just not something we want to do for now.
  13. Reto.bobot

Oh, sorry, yeah I was just re-iterating your point. I didn't understand your point as you lot wanted lootboxes, it was just an example of that we can expect major legal changes on how the gaming industry can earn a living on a live server platform. And I also wanted to underline that we are constantly talking about how we can facilitate something in the liking of what you are mentioning here - we are just not rushing there, because we don't know what legal framework we will be working from within perhaps already the next year or so. As an example, what would be the benefit for us to create such a framework that you a re suggesting here, with perhaps a legal clause being implemented just 2 months after saying that we can't produce and or facilitate content that users will re-sell on a 3rd party site or platform where we are not in control of currency and pricing. It's an odd situation to be in. So yeah. Just wanted to point out that we are of course looking at how we want to bring new content like vanity items to you guys. 👍
  14. Reto.bobot

Just wanted to quickly address this Lobo, also regarding your previous point about skin cases etc. We have of course discussed this internally and how it could potentially benefit our business, but the market right now does not seem to favor a model like this in legal terms. We've seen multiple legal steps taken in the EU towards negating "gamefication" of gambling elements in games, and it's simply not something we see as a viable solution. The new government in Denmark has already been outspoken on the potential to crackdown on any business models that could put young people in a gambling loop or the like, and we've already seen legal cases in the Netherlands(I think?), Belgium and France regarding lootboxes. So it's not something we are keen to rush in to, and frankly lootboxes has never been something we wanted to do at all. We do however want to provide you all with a more varied selection of vanity items, but that is somewhere in the horizon at the moment 😉 - Enjoy the summer sale!

I understand your sentiment, but what data specifically would you consider as proof in this case? If you give me specifics I'll gladly go look, but we have 6000+ pricing files and it's simply not feasible to share them all here, but I will try to give you an example if you can think of one. In June 2018 (When I had just started working here) we had a pricing refactor, which implemented numerous changes, mostly to functionality - So for instance we could allow a discount on currencies separately (a feature which was used in this event). I used the word significant because the only changes I could observe was functional in a back end terminology, I should have been more specific. Ninja edits is a volatile term, understandably, but they mostly come down to direct errors in pricing where we see the scales are WAY off - I can assure you that there was no preparations in the credit repairs before this event, as the previous user implied - still without providing evidence. As I previously stated - 1: WHY would we do that? It would create no value for us or you as players whatsoever. 2: Did you yourself observe any major differences? 3: If we changed something as significant as repair costs in any way to impact it in a major way you guys would figure that out instantly, and the community lash back would simply not be worth it! - That is a major structural change that would have to run through several channels in our team to go unnoticed/unquestioned. And I'll have no problems apologizing for any remarks made towards you as a person, but I can't provide much insight in to what has happened in the past. Calling someone a thief and a liar without any evidence isn't really a good way to solicit data from a developer. You didn't call us that so I'd gladly provide you with the data that I'm authorized to give you, but going about it as the last dude did is simply not a healthy way to discuss things. However arguing that we are responsible for a potential costumer reading a speculative comment like the previous user made, is a hard stretch. That is why I'm answering this - It was simply not a true statement made by that user, and that is what potential buyers should take away from this comment. Now you want data, which is fine, but he created a false premise(ie. that we are rigging events against our users) on which you are requesting that data from, because you are thinking after reading his unsupported comment "Hey, maybe there is something to this". - Transparency or not, I find it really difficult to believe that we as a company would have anything to gain from such a situation. Can we please, just for next time, try to have some fun? It's just a heck'in' weekend event with a credit discount for god sake.
