The Pe-3 is a Soviet long range heavy fighter. Its armament consists of a 20mm cannon in the nose, two 12.7mm heavy machine guns under the fuselage, a 7.62mm fixed tail gun, and a dorsal turret with a 12.7mm heavy machine gun. So while an enemy at your six is always a tricky situation for a pilot, the extra machine gun gives you a better chance of shooting him down or at least scare him away. The Pe-3 carries two medium sized bombs giving it an effective punch against enemy ground targets!
How do I get one?

Isn’t it very difficult to fly planes?
In the “1.03 – Wings of War” update, we introduce two new flight control modes as well as two additional throttle controls making it much easier to get started flying. Take a look at this news-post and video to see more about the new flight controls.
What is the strategic use?
Heavy Fighter Squadrons pack more punch than Medium Fighters and Reconnaissance planes and have a greater range on the war map.
The Pe-3 was introduced in 1941 where it replaced the Pe-2. A total of 360 was produced during WW2. A lot more was to be produced, but the main factory producing the plane had to be evacuated leading to production stopping and being restarted multiple times. The plane was used in the early part of the war, but also took part in the battle of Stalingrad!
